On-demand and pre-paid options
Servers can be paid for monthly, quarterly or
annually in advance, with discounts for longer periods.
Servers can also be ordered with per-second on-demand billing.
On-demand pricing is quoted as a monthly rate, but can be cancelled at
any time and you will only be charged for the time that the server is
provisioned.
Storage
Our servers netboot onto an NFS root file system. This approach has a
number of benefits over using local flash storage on the Pi.
Network
storage avoids the reliability and performance issues associated with
flash storage, and gives us greater flexibility over the size of storage
available.
Please note that we do not take backups of the Raspberry Pi filesystems. If
you require backups, please contact support for details
of our backup services.
Connectivity
Servers come with IPv6 connectivity. We expose SSH over IPv4 via a
gateway server, and the service includes access to our IPv4-to-v6
proxy, allowing you to host websites on an IPv6-only server.
Servers are currently being provisioned in the City Lifeline data centre
in London. Servers are connected to a switch on our core network
with direct access via our fibre ring to multiple 10Gbps uplinks, including
the London Internet Exchange (LINX) and LONAP.
Our Pi servers are connected to a managed switch providing
power-over-ethernet (PoE). This allows you to power cycle your server at
any time using our control panel.
